| Abstract: | This thesis delves into the cultural evolution within the Royal Navy started by David Beatty throughout his career. Instead of focusing on his wrongdoing this analysis put him at the centre of the revival of a Nelsonian culture and the Royal Navy’s ethos by referencing first hand accounts of his surrounding and from his own letters. This paper manages to be the first compilation of his achievements both as a leader on sea as his role as the head of the Admiralty. Beatty changed the Royal Navy by bringing back the Nelsonian culture and ethos. |
